Head over to Dufferin Islands for a tranquil afternoon spent amongst the peaceful surroundings this idyllic location has to offer.
Head around 2KM south of Niagara Falls and you will come across Dufferin Islands, which are a series of man made Islands spread across 10 acres of tranquil surroundings. The Islands make for an idyllic escape for anyone looking to obtain peace and quiet away from the main tourist areas of Niagara Falls.
Many head to Dufferin Islands to walk the trails and explore the bridges which lead to different areas of wildlife and nature, as it is not uncommon to view a whole host of animals including a variety of birds and even raccoons.
Whilst it also makes for a pleasant area to drive through if you are making just a fleeting visit, it is also an ideal area to bring a picnic and make a day of it. Afterall, many areas surrounding the Falls can become densely populated especially in peak season so sometimes a calm, undisturbed environment is just the ticket for you to be able to relax and unwind.
If you are visiting between November and January you will also be able to view the Winter Festival of Lights which are held every year. You can view a whole spectacle of different animals and scenery which twinkle from afar as you make your way around the Island. Admission is free though donations are gratefully received at the exit to be able to keep the festival running.
